The Umbango River Conservancy (URC) will hold its seventh annual general meeting at Gate Ministries in Port Shepstone this Saturday, November 16 at 2pm.

The guest speaker is Brent Addison. Mr Addison, one of the South Coast’s experts on the ocean, will present a talk on ‘Plastic Pollution of the Oceans’.

He is one of South Africa’s pioneer divers, has been at the forefront of underwater photography and video, and has two species of ray named after him.

The conservancy urges all concerned citizens, environmental activists, conservancy organisations and fishermen to attend. To become a member of the URC, irrespective of your residential area will cost you R10 per annum.

Business breakfast

The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry invites all to its business breakfast at Kapenta Bay Hotel on Friday, November 22 at 8.30am. Cost is R75 for members and R100 for non-members. Guest speakers are Tshegang Chipeya, who will present the latest thinking and plans on the smart city concept and how the South Coast can benefit from it.

The second speaker is Farai Moyo who will present the most recent data on the provincial economy, and the sectors in each district that have been identified as key in KwaZulu-Natal.
